Minicraft 1:350 Scale Model
For the semi skilled modeler or older age

skill level 3.5

Minicrafts description:
Available now in better hobby shops, the Museum Quality Deluxe RMS TITANIC in 1/350th scale is the largest, most highly detailed and the most accurate of all injection molded TITANIC models. With over 90 corrections and improvements to the molded parts plus 42 square inches of precision photo-etched brass railings and ratlines, this is the finest kit available. To build a museum quality model of the TITANIC requires many dedicated man hours. Why not start with the best and most accurate?
(Product #: ?)

- Length: 30-1/2"
- Width: 3-1/4"

Probably one of the most popular larger sized Titanic models out there. Believe it or not, this model has been around for almost thirty years. Owned by several different companies, it now resides at Minicraft Models Inc.

This kit is produced in two different versions. Deluxe and classic. The deluxe comes with several different items that the regular does not. The deluxe Includes 42 sq inches of photo-etched brass railings for enhanced detail and accuracy. You may have trouble finding this kit as it was limited, but you should check your local hobby stores for details. The classic version only comes with all plastic pieces and may not have an as accurate look as the deluxe version. The price will be about $25 difference between the two depending on where you get it.

Regardless of which verion you get, and you want the photoetch look, you should get all of the extra parts available for it. The deluxe version only comes with railing(maybe a bit more, but I can't recall right now). There is so much more to get for this kit. So, if you get the deluxe version, You should still get the full GMM sets or TMW sets(see below for details on these sets). Yes, you will get extra railings, but you'll get so much more with the sets that it won't make much of a difference. In any case, it never hurts to have an extra set of PE railings seeing how they break so easly. And if you get the standard version, you still have the full PE sets.

It should be noted that this kit is a revised version of what it was prior to 1999. Due to the remarks of this site, Minicraft took on the challenge of redoing the master diecut molds to make it a much better and accurate representation of the famed ship. Although they were not able to fix everything, it is still considered the best commercially available model of the Titanic.

Unlike the 1:570 Revell model, you are able to do much more to this model. Like cable and rigging. If the correct material is used, it will look just as great as the model itself and will not take away from the overall look of the finished model. I recommend getting all of the photoetch parts that you can for this kit. If the person receiving this kit is an advanced builder or even a modeler with passion can put these parts on. They just need to be ready to take their time with these extra parts. Photoetch is very fragile and can bend or break with the slightest wrong move. We'll list all of the photoetch parts available for this kit below.

You can also get some very good custom made decals for this kit which we will list below. If this is the kit you plan to buy for the special someone this year, be ready for lots of fun and patience

Humbrol, Tamiya, Revell or Gunze are other suggested paints you may use instead of Testors
