Although the focus of this lavishly illustrated book is the four-year construction in Belfast, Ireland, it's nearly impossible not to immediately turn to the final section ("We are on the ice") to read the description of the frantic rescue attempts, scan copies of wireless calls for help, and study mementoes of the disaster. McCaughan is Head of Transport at the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum which owns the official photograph archives of shipbuilders Harland & Wolff
