Pete:
What are you using for the chocks that go under the lifeboats?
I am scratchbuilding mine out of scrap plastic.
: Do you try to cut the chocks off the plastic davits or what?
You can; however, the track the chocks are molded to needs to removed from under each chock. To make the model more accurate, the existing track indentation on the boat deck needs to be filled in. You might be better off if you scratchbuild new chocks rather than sand the track off the bottom of each. owever, that's just the way I did it.
: Also, I am a bit apprehensive about the spacing between each davit base on the deck.
: What can I use as a "yardstick?" Are the plastic davits correct
: enough in their spacing to be used as a guide for proper spacing of the GMM davits
: as they are placed on the deck?
I am not that far in construction, but cursory examination shows no anticipated problems using them as a template.
Anyone else?
