The wood has a reflective sheen to it which makes it look bright, a shiny type of wood. The grain is wide so it would be noticeable close up. It is used all over Texas as lumber. You can go down the highways in Texas and see the housing developements being built, the framing uses yellow pine and they do not look white, but a yellow tan color.

I agree totally (I live in Texas too!) That's why
I said that I would not recommend something "almost white." I included the "white" deck to
illustrate how a strong light at a certain angle
can make the deck appear. The second photograph
is the same wood (same yacht, same deck, different
light) and looks much more like what I think of as
a deck color. I actually think the last picture
is closest to what I think of as the color of
yellow pine. The others look a little too red
as far as I'm concerned.
