If you want information on what was know and printed just after the wreck, I recommend "Titanic: From Rare Historical Reports" by Peter Boyd-Smith ISBN 0-9523696-0-5. It's loaded with original newspaper accounts, stories, photos of what was known and thought then. The downside is that you need to have a good understanding of what has been learned to date to know just how wrong many of the newspaper articles are, and what it all meant to the people of the time. This is a rich resource for that kind of research.
