: : I also recall reading somewhere that the propeller was taken from Titanic to replace the blade lost by the Olympic. In checking, however,I did find that the propeller shaft and other key parts were taken from Titanic in order to expedite repairs after Olympic's collision with the Hawk. While the lost blade is mentioned in several books, I found no reference to a blade being taken from Titanic to replace it. I'm still checking though just to make sure. I don't think taking a propeller blade from Britannic would be an issue. The Olympic lost the blade in February, 1912, and at the time of Titanics loss in April, only the framing of Britannic's double bottom had been completed. Hope that helps.

: I heard that too, and was trying to remember where i read it. I do recall though that on one of the threads we were talking about the propellor spanners and somebody mentioned that they were aboard for propellor parts stored in the ship to be able to conduct repairs anywhere necessary. I think that the propellor parts were probably already with Olympic. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, this is all from memory.
I checked about a dozen different books today and I finally found it in TITANIC by Thomas Bonsall. All of the other accounts just say Olympic went back to Belfast for repairs. From the different sources I've read, I would imagine Bob and Mark's account of the event is probably more accurate. (See above) At least I know I wasn't imagining things and that I really did read it some where.
