Malcom:
You didn't touch any raw nerve here. The thing I hate is that with so much legitimate research left to be done on Titanic some authors will produce something like this book which the author can make wild speculations and not have to prove his assertions. He just throws stuff out there and puts the burden on others to prove him wrong which is just the opposite of the way it should work. It may be amusing or intriguing but it really takes away from things that actually produce new knowledge. Once we get bogged down in this then we start talking about how much we like Leo. I vote to leave this stuff to the newsgroups.

: Bob,
: Thanks for your terse reply to the conspiracy theory question - ouch! Obviously touched a raw nerve there! - sorry. This was merely meant to be a lighthearted diversion from our common goal to gain as much information about our beloved ship that we can for research and modelling purposes.
: The real base question that was being asked was if anyone had any documented evidence regarding the two repairs to Olympic that MAY have involved using parts destined for Titanic.
