I forgot to mention, the best results for a scale appearance on my plastic models were obtained with SEMI-GLOSS paints, either model paint (humbrol tamya, modelmaster, pactra etc.)or household interior paints, with an airbrush, they take decals perfectly and the film dissapear in the paint with decalset or other decal solvents.
as always, experiment before and try different primers, either with brush, airbrush, or spray cans always apply the thinnest coats possible.
sand lightly between coats when possible and do not forget to wash every plastic part with mild soap before applying any paint.
