: Hi Mike,

: I just have a simple question concerning the GSC stairs on the boat deck decending down to A deck. The stairs are too big to fit in the space prescribed in the tutorial. I am using Dan Cherry's floor tiles and the opening seems to be to small to fit the width of the staircase. The width of the opening (cut into the deck piece) according to the tutorial is 18mm, but the width of the staricase is something like 20 odd mm.

: Now Dan Cherry wrote in a previous post that this was normal and that the staircase should be fitted above the opening of the boat deck. I would just like to know what you think about this idea, and also what you did on your model. Did you follow this method? Since your model is complete I'm sure you can help me out. Could I see some picture's of your model's GSC area?

: Thanks in advance,

I read Dan's reply. What he states is correct. The opening is slightly narrower than the stairs and the last step rests on the A-deck tiles. Being slightly narrower allows the modeler to make the stanchions, railings and bannisters that flanked each side of the Boat deck/A-deck level stairwell to the top of the stairs that would lead from A-deck to B-deck underneath and so on all the way down to the Dining Lounge reception foyer.

Other than the photos that appear in the Official Scale Model Tutorial on the Rivetcounter web site I have only one more online at the Debris Field in our Models area, Titanic section under my name taken with a web cam. I have none during the actual construction phase (which will be remedied on my Olympic model when the time comes).

Dan's excellent diagram in the Tutorial (along with his great tiles sheet) make the job easy.

Cheers, Mike
