Jeanne:
Have you printed out the Titanic Scale Model Tutorial? It has the answer to almost any question you might have about building the model and where modifications need to be made. It is
at the Debris Field. I don't know if there is a link to it on the homepage of this site or not.
A group of people spent a lot of time putting it together to answer exactly the kinds of questions you have. Give it a look.

: : You are referring to the railings which divided
: : different promenade areas on the boat deck.
: : The picture you posted is confusing. The railings were:
: : 1. P&S railings for the Officers promenade.
: : I believe the starboard railing was at the
: : forward corner of the first class entrance
: : vestibule.
: : The port side railing was just forward of the
: : forward expansion joint.

: : 2. The next railing aft was P&S at the aft corners
: : of the deckhouse under the 3rd funnel. Forward
: : of this railing was 1st class promenade. Aft
: : of it was the engineers promenade.

: : 3. The next railing aft P&S was at the aft corners
: : of the Tank room. Forward of this was the
: : engineers promenade. Aft of it was second
: : second class promenade space.

: : The only one whose location I'm not 100% sure if I've given you the correct answer for Titanic is
: : the forward starboard dividing railing. The position I gave was correct for Olympic but if someone has information about Titanic's position being different, chime in please.

: : : : I don't understand your question. Are you asking
: : : : where railings are located on the boat deck?
: : : : Are you asking how many different types are there
: : : : (i.e. 5 bar, 1 bar, 2 bar)? Are you including the deckhouse roofs? Are you talking about railings which prevented access to different areas of the boat deck? Specifics?

: : : : : OK, this is confusing, on James Cameron's CD when you see the model, there appears to be three railings on the boat deck, but on the tour, there is only 2. Can anyone help me as to how many there really were? Many thanks in advance.

: : : Sorry, my computer died while transfering the photo, I'll try it again. Still...

: : : Please forgive me for so many postings, our server has had problems all morning. I'll try one more time, Bob.

: Thank you very much, Bob! I'll print this & keep it with my model. The railing up by the officer's promenade is clearly visible in Cameron's CD, this I took a photo of as well. It has the sign I believe I mentioned that says, "No passengers allowed beyond this point."
: Right now, I'm working on Funnel #2.
