I'm going to answer this one, too.
Mr. Davidson, you did indeed misread my intent. I do not compete with Tom's Modelworks or any other firm when it comes to Titanic window frames. They have this niche to themselves which means I lose nothing whenever they sell a set. I wish them well. In fact, I have personally buried the hatchet during several e-mail exchanges with Mr. Harrison about three weeks ago and there should be no further unpleasantries between us if all goes as we both intend.
I accept your apology re. misreading my intentions. Now as to Bob Read's response (shown in abbreviated form here):
: : Loren:
: : I couldn't agree more with your comments.
: : I appeal to Jerry Davidson to resign his trusteeship with the TRMA until he abandons his crusade. Short of that, I implore the TRMA to ask for his resignation.
: : Regards,
: : Bob Read
And now yours, also in part:
:Bob,
:Excuse me....but this is was never a :conversation that you were included in.
Now if I remember correctly, anyone on this site may chime in whenever they so choose. This is a modern version of a telephone party line. And if you recall, my post on working with etched windows did not involve you, Mr. Davidson, yet you chimed in. You can do it, and so can Bob, or anyone else for that matter. Your response went on...
:I made a simple statement that stated that I :thought he made the process seem ovely :complicated. You seem to have interjected :yourself into it. This required no response :from you. I was not attacking Loren, just making :an observation. If you think it is overly :agressive....read it again!
Mr. Davidson, your post was headed up with: "There you go again, Mr. Perry." Yours was not a friendly message. You suggested I keep my thoughts to myself when discussing any photoetched products other than my own. Yet all I did was share some basic modeling techniques applicable to any and all PE brands that might help out those wondering how to best use these delicate products. Sometimes I can draw on my past experience and pass on the lessons I've learned to those needing a little hint on how to proceed. I expect nothing in return.
: I have apologized to Mr. Perry for :misunderstanding his intent. I however feel that :this is none of your concern. As for the rest of :your post, that is none of your concern also.
Once again, I accept your apology, Mr. Davidson, and I thank you. But once more, please remember that this site is a "party line" and no private conversations are held here. If you post a strongly worded statement, expect to get multiple responses. Mr. Read has been an energetic and productive contributor to this site since its original inception. I believe he has every right to voice his concerns and/or opinions, just as you and I do.
In closing, my final request at the end of my first posting on this topic was for anyone having better ideas on PE window installation to please step forward and speak up.
Now's your chance. Please tell us step-by-step how you would install the windows. And, if I included any overly complicated steps you feel were unnecessary, please feel free to list them and explain your reasoning as to why they should be eliminated. A number of advanced Titanic modelers would no doubt love to read another viewpoint.
