I didn't paint my trimline at all. I bought a container of Pactra Trim Tape in bright yellow. It has an adhesive side, comes in many different widths, and is quite easy to apply.

First I stretched it and burnished it all along the hull, it was not that hard to make it straight. After I carefully burnished it down, I sprayed the entire hull, decals included with Testors Semi Gloss Lacquer Overcoat. That sealed in the decals, and the trim line and after about 2-3 think coats, it looked great.

No painting, no masking, I just don't see why anyone would paint the line when they can tape it. That's my two cents worth, and the tape looks great!
