I agree with Mike. I also want to express that in order to have the "whole boat", a modeler should get a copy of all of the sets. The current sets available are not exactly alike, some have this thing, some that, some things designed differently etc. As I said lower on the board, it is a matter of preference.
I have all of the sets, and in many cases two to three copies of certain sets. Titanic specific photo-etch is a limited market, and it is fully understood when one might not want to dump a load of money into photo-etch manufacturing for a limited sales base. Look at Al, he is correct in his philosophy, it just isn't worth it for him to carve completely new molds for the 1/350th model, and I agree. Besides, half of the fun is creating the pieces yourself. It is kind of like a sculpture.
I have discussed the issues of the many model products with some of the new trustees privately. It is my opinion that the new titanic site will not offer reviews of anyone's products. We will only show them, introduce and explain them, and let the consumer judge for themselves. However, if someone wants to post an opinion of a product here, that is fine. But as for my thoughts on this, I want to keep the titanic-model site neutral for any product showcased on the main page. This is still not voted on, and will be sent out to the trustees for their opinion.
I am building a 1/350th model as a photo-etch experiment. This is for my own purposes, and I will sell the model when I am done with it. At this point, there are both GMM and Tom's stuff on it. I will be adding some of Tom Nicloli's stuff also at some point.
When it comes to the Olympic class liners, we should all be doing this under a common cause, all for one and one for all. For the memory of the Ship and it's passengers and crew. (sentimental huh?)
