: the electrolier was the big chandelier in the 1st class lounge. also, the dimensions of the lounge would be great. so far i have devised that the total length was around 90 feet and width was around 60 feet. i do not know if that is right. but i have no idea as to the dimensions of the chandelier.

Brad, "electrolier" was sort of a general name applied to most of the fancy lights supplied to the ship from both the Perry and Burt companies, not just the big chandelier in the lounge.

Next, I'm not sure of the actual dimensions, but I am sure that this chandelier was WAY smaller than that! The whole room wasn't that big. By comparison, the much larger 1st class dining saloon was approximately 92 feet wide (the width of the ship) by 114 feet long. Looking at the basic deck plans will give you a feel for the size of the lounge compared to this.

To see a picture of the identical chandelier from the Olympic, as it appears today, go to Stuart Kelly's site via the link below. You can also email Stuart from this page; having seen the real thing in person, he may be able give you a pretty good guess as to the actual dimensions.

Regards,
Scott
