Porthole drilling
by KeithI recently completed a complete porthole job for a lighted version. I gave up on the Dremel as well and used my old trusty variable speed 12v cordless drill with the tiny bits, and a hand vise with 5/64" bit for the larger holes. A new drill bit is a good investment since it will cut quickly when using a hand vise. If you are lighting, be sure to countersink the back of each hole slightly (all 1048 of em!) It makes a tremendous diference. I used a 1/2 inch countersink bit with a knob I mounted and did them by hand. It was worth the trouble though.Posted on Oct 29, 1998, 9:33 PM
