Vent colors (God, not again...)
by

I was watching some of my videos involving Titanic, and was intrigued by something. There where a few pics that showed the dark color, then there were shots that showed a light color (shade) inside the vents. The dark ones appeared uniform whereas the light ones showed the difference in shading that is seen in curved surfaces. Is it possible that the dark ones are actually some sort of covers that were later removed? While I was in the military, we used covers to cover vents and other sensative areas in our vehicles, and those covers were red. They were red to let us know to remove them before using or operating the equipment, so If any of the hardcore people on this site who are knowledgeable about early ships may know if this was ever in practice on ships, maybe this mystery can be solved. Or not.
