Here's a tip you might consider using for those icky grand staircase skylights on the revell kit.
Cut the roof of both staircase skylights through. This is to remove all the 'glass' panels which are wrongly divided anyway. Use thin clear sheet plastic and cut them to the size of the skylight roof. Sand them with fine grit sandpaper on both sides to give them a frosted glass look. Then take a permanent fine white paint marker and draw the white panel lines onto the new 'glass' roof using reference from books, like the illustrated history of the Titanic. Glue them in place when done.
