I used a variable-speed Dremel to remove most of the solid rails, then sanded the rest off or used an X-acto knife. I also used a tiny bit to drill the portholes. My kit was warp-free out of the box, and went together fairly easily. It is now a wreck model at the bottom of my aquarium but was originally to be a diarama of the ship as it was sinking, with full lighting..
