Revell tips
by Dan Cherry

For getting rid of the solid rails, I sliced them down with an X-Acto knife as far as I could without going to the deck, then sanded them smooth to the level of the decks - tedious, but better than the solid rails. I think I only left the rails on my original Revell, now long gone to the scrap heap. For some of the corners and harder places to reach easy with a knife, I used a sand bit. My boat deck in my most recent kit had a very bad warp from fore to aft and port to starboard. It also has spots in the deck which look like someone took a toothpick and pushed up the deck from below while the plastic wasn't yet cured. My current Minicraft has a bad warp on the A-deck aft promenade, but an earlier post said to place the warped piece in boiling water just long enough to get the plastic just soft enough that you can weight it down on a flat surface.
If you need any other assistance with Revell, I will try to help with the learning I've had after building several in my life time.
