I'm not even going to resurrect the discussion of the configuration of Titanic's wheelhouse because when I question the arrangement that has come to be accepted, folks think I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer.
Ok. Let's talk about Olympic's wheelhouse. If we look at the arangement in Anatomy which Scott Andrews says is the configuration after the last refit, it looks for all the world like Titanic's except for the longer bulkheads extending aft from the sides of the Captain's bridge. Now I have seen at least 3 different wheelhouse configurations of Olympic (more if you want to count all plans):
1. The early photo in Marriott and Anatomy during fitting out which shows a wider wheelhouse with recessed doors and a curved front.
2. Later photos showing the wider configuration but with recessed doors, a flat front and no side windows.
3. This plan in Anatomy (if it was executed) showing a narrower wheelhouse with a flush door and side windows.
Does anybody want to try to reconcile these as to when and possibly why the changes were made?
Would anybody like to speculate about what plan we get the current Titanic wheelhouse configuration with narrow sides, flush doors and one window on each side? I have never seen a deck plan that indicates all of these items.
