In Wels pg. 42 and IH pg. 26 (photos were
taken moments apart) I see NO SIGNS what
so ever. On pgs. 34 of IH port an aft signs on
"T" are visible. On pg. 35 of IH starboard sign
is visible on "O" in the same place as the port
sign on "T" ("T" foldout in IH shows the same
thing; later Marschall works often contradict the
earlier ones). In IH pg. 39 poop deck photo,
backs of port and aft signs can be seen, but
a man is blocking the space where the stbd sign
ought to be. In O'Donnell's "Last days..." pg. 73
port and aft signs are clearly visible, even read-
able, as is the ship's name and port of registry.
On pg 75 of LDofT, there is the the a dark spot
visible on the rail just forward of the docking
bridge which may be the sign board. I hope this
is of some help.
