If you look at p.65 of The Last Days Of the Titanic, closely examine the outboard post of the ladder right at the ladies left ear(where it would be if it were not covered by the scarf). You can see a verticle white line . Notice the break in the dark shadow under the boom swivel. In other words the picture shows left ear(scarf), shadow under boom swivel, white verticle line and then outside ladder post. If that were not a white support then the dark shadow of the swivel would run right into the outside ladder post like it is just right of the outside ladder post.
Is it possible that they painted half the post ladder color and the outside white?
