Before you pronounce this case closed I must disagree with your conclusions. I do agree with Scott Andrews that the pillar was there on the Olympic. Could someone demonstrate the location of this white pillar in the photos on p. 65 and 66 of O'Donnell's "Last Days of the Titanic" or on
p. 26, 27 of "Titanic an Illustrated History"?
In my opinion there are two supports and they form the outer members of the ladder. Your earlier arguments about the shadows on the superstructure found on p. 65 of "The Last Days of the Titanic" must be analyzed in light of the caption of this picture. Those were not shadows but rather a double exposure. In a battle of photos the closer photos have to carry more weight. If you only had one closer photo that would be one thing but on 65 and 66 you have two photos from different angles. If the mystery support were there it would surely peek out of one of them. You can see through the rungs on p. 65 and the only thing behind is the cargo crane. No, I can't explain the photo on p. 73 of Last Days other than to note that two things can't occupy the same space at the same time. I believe that whatever is seen is the same thing that is seen on p. 65 (I see a ladder, nothing else.) This is my last opinion on this subject because like the funnel interior controversy and the thin gold stern stripe controversy we have each presented evidence and are not disuaded from our perception or opinion. This one will have to be consigned to the agree to disagree pile until other better evidence would come to light. However for either side to pronounce the matter closed in any forum other than their own mind would not be fair.

: Yes there are supports there. I have convinced Roy Mengot. He agrees. I will provide references but you already found one. As far as I'm concerned the case is closed. Those supports are right next to the ladders on the outside and are visible from nearly every photo of the aft end of "T". Pg. 73 of The Last Days Of Titanic is one example.
