Yes there are supports there. I have convinced Roy Mengot. He agrees. I will provide references but you already found one. As far as I'm concerned the case is closed. Those supports are right next to the ladders on the outside and are visible from nearly every photo of the aft end of "T". Pg. 73 of The Last Days Of Titanic is one example.
