: : My apologies, Bob! I am building the Revell model (which has little detail as it is, really); thank you for your helpful recommendation. Does Microscale have Revell Titanic-sized decals for the draft marks? I hope my budget will allow for a Minicraft kit someday, and ambition allow for a good-sized scratch-built.

: At 1/570 scale I think that the microscopic dots would be good enough. 18" numbers at that scale would be .03" and 12" numbers would be .02" the namplate lettering on the bow and stern was 18" high and the homeport lettering was 12" high acording to the H&W rigging plan. The load marks were probably smaller. A good sorce of lettering (and easy to use) is dry transfer decals for model railroads. THey come in some very tiny sizes and a variety of colors, are easy to use, and can be removed if needed.

Hi,

Size of the "draft numbers" are 6" in real life where the draft is measured in feet. The space between the numbers are also 6". When the water level is touching the underside of the number, then the draft is what the number says. If the water level is exactly on top of the number then the draft is 6" more than the number.
In "metric places" the size of the letter and spacing accordingly is 10 cm.
Please try to paint a 0.04mm or 0,017" number with the same spacing on the Minicraft, and even smaller for the Revell to get the rigt scale appearance. ( just kidding)
