....and yet more questions about Fibre Optics !!

...yet another perfectionist wanting to fully light their Titanic master piece but this one has never tried anything so adventuresome.

I have read up on the advice given on the web site and certainly I believe it is within my capabilities. Through Alex Lee and the Hot Tips page, I now know where I can source the necessary bits in the UK.

However

How much and of what size / combination of sizes are still very much a mystery to me. My cunning plan is to illuminate the hull section and first layer of decking simply with light from perhaps two bulbs placed in the hull over the gold support stands to aid easy replacement. I was thinking of cutting sections out of the decking (D part) to allow light to pass through to the rooms on that deck. I have read that some people have opted to place fiber optics in some of the port holes. What benefit would this give over the reflection of light from the bulbs that I intend to use?

As for the remaining upper decks I will have to use some form of fiber optics and this is the area which is totally foreign to me.

Can I use the two bulbs placed in the base of the hull as source lighting for the fiber optics or do I have to use separate bulbs for fiber optic lighting?

How many strands can you attach to a source light and how many strands do you need to light a deck space.

What areas did you target to light ? Where was the best placement on the deck surface on the ceiling?

Clearly I am very keen to plan all the design side of the fiber optics well in advance of putting glue to plastic. So any help you can offer on this subject would be gratefully accepted.
