Hello Loren, first thanks you for sending out the GMM parts. They have arrived here in good order. Secondly, thank you for the tips re:running lights, etc. We likewise will be following suit for colours. Marschall tends to be a reliable source when it is uncertain what colours were what when looking at photos of the real Titanic. Brown it is then for the deckhouse skylights. We have also painted our winches green and added black to the winches rollers (as seen in Marschall's painting and mentioned in Roy Mengot's model guide). BTW - do you have any photos of your model you can share with the rest of us? :)
Re: Improved Grandstaircase Skylights; better known as Loren's Lids :).....
Though they are flat in the GMM tree, do we need to bend them in a slight arch over the casing around the dome? Marschall paintings show the frame to be arched slightly, so it appears we may have to add new end pieces with sheet styrene to fill the gaps (as we did for the forward hatch cover on the forecastle? Do you happen to know what colour the `flooring' was inside the frame? Grey, white, other? We have painted the frame white and are leaning towards grey for the `floor' that the glass dome actually sat on, but would like to be sure before we seal it under your great skylight covers.
Cheers, Mike
