I can't say for sure about the colors of these
skylights, but I've painted mine to match Ken
Marschall's artwork. I've also painted all the
winches dark green and the steel plating around
the funnels medium gray. I found that Floquil
Marine Colors Ocean Gray is a good match for the
gray in Marschall's paintings.
BTW for a nice running light effect for non-
lighted models, one can glue in red and green
reflective lenses made by MV products and available
at better model railroad stores. I used MV lenses
numbers 301 (red, package of four) and 302 (green,
package of four), with Micro-Scale's Kristal-Kleer
used as a glue to hold them in place. I actually
built up my running lights with thin sheet styrene
to match those seen in close-ups of the real ship.
These little lenses seem to amplify the ambient
light and glow beautifully, despite their tiny
size (about that of a very small pinhead.)
I also used a clear lens (MV No. 300) for the
stern light.
