: Don,
: I read your advise a few weeks back on painting the separate
: deck planks. I think I'm going to give it a try. Can you tell
: me the paint colors and the Brand of paints, I can't seem
: to find your old message. Also, did you paint before or after you
: put the deck together as one longer piece. Any advise would be
: greatly appreciated. Thanks.

*** The paints are at home and I should be able to give you that info tomorrow. As for the method of assembly...
First, I am lighting my model, so I spray painted the bottoms of all those decks gloss black.
Then I spray painted them gloss silver to reflect back the interior lighting (the lights in those days were surely much dimmer than today- and I haven't gotten around to sending for free samples of the mirror reflective material as someone else suggested in an earlier link).
When this was all DRY (take note all novice modelers), I proceeded with the painstaking painting. I mixed a good brushful of one tint of the light tan, and would paint random planks all around the deck, mixing another brushful of a slightly different tint of light tan would allow me to paint more random spaced planks until the whole deck was painted/planked with about 7 major tints of the light tan.
After I finished, I was bowled over by how it makes the entire deck look like it is made up of tiny popsicle sticks. I really like the look and it was worth the bit of time and effort.
Again, I will have brush size info and paint info tomorrow.
Good luck!
