I have built this model twice and I am working on a third. I don't know about the excess flashing or lack of detail from the molds - but I do know that the model that I bought most recently was made in South Korea and it is much, much cleaner and the details much more pronounced than earlier 2 models which I believe were produced in U.S. The first 2 and particulary the second one were not anywhere near the quality of the one from Korea. Maybe I just lucked out this time, I don't know.
