Titanic model photo quality

I want to thank Sean for taking the time to scan my
photos and place them up on his page. This is one way
we can all share our built-up models with each other
rapidly and economically.
But please be advised that the scanning technology
has caused all the photos to be degraded in brightness
and clarity. I noticed that all the close-ups are
darker than the original prints, and in most cases the
backgrounds are too dark to see much of anything.
Many of the extreme close-ups were shot with the
use of a ring-flash - this device allows the lens to
approach the subject as close as an inch or less and
still illuminate the subject, but it also limits light
allowed into the background. This cause the background
to be a bit darker then normal, but not as dark as
shown in the scanned images.
In a couple of cases, I could only view partial
images when I opened this page. And again, due to
technological limitations with computers and scanners
(certainly no fault of Sean - I'm very grateful for his
contributions), all the images have been reproduced out
of focus and with a lot of detail difficult or
impossible to see.
The photo packs mentioned elsewhere on this page
are far brighter, more colorful, and razor-sharp in
focus. Different lighting conditions were used for them
- in this case, regular photofloods - so the images are
vastly improved over what you see on the web.
But at least you now can get an idea of how I built
my model.
