Mike:
You appear to be right about the hydrants. Their number and location? I haven't got a clue.
The best rendering of the appearance of the hydrants on the forward well deck appear in a painting by Marschall in the softcover juvenile book: "Exploring the Titanic" by Ballard. On p.44
the Marschall painting is almost exactly the same as the one of the bridge area at night that appears in "Titanic: An Illustrated History". The main difference is that this is a daylight rendition. There are a few errors that Marschall later corrected in the night version. The hydrants next to the "mushroom" vent are different than the type on the boat deck. They appear to be a pedestal style approximately 3 ft. high. There is a spigot for connection to a hose and what appears to be a horseshoe shaped handle that was probably lifted to start the water flow. These are definitely not vents.
Have you calculated the size of the boat deck hydrants in 1/350 scale? By the way, good eye.
