: Hi. First, I'm new to this message board so forgive
: me if this has already been covered. In the model's
: instructions, it says to paint the sides of the hatches,
: the well deck walls, etc. rust brown. I have also
: seen this referred to in a couple online guides.
: However, in the movie "Titanic", these areas are painted
: more of an orange colour (Floquil's Salmon Buff marine
: colour looks to be a good match). Is Cameron's
: interpretation of this colour correct, or should it
: be the much darker rust brown colour, as indicated?
Re: Brass - Ken Marschall's paintings show the portholes in the black hull area to have brass coverings but -not- the large ones on the `C' deck's white area. Only the small ones there.
Re: Well-deck/hatch red - Steve and I used a red primer colour by Humbrol that matches perfectly the colour seen in Marschall's 3/4 welldeck/bridge painting. We also painted the hatch covers flat white rather than the grey suggested by the model manufacturer to better simulate canvas.
