I used ~12 metres of it at 1mm thick. The way i rigged up the hull was to have a flourescent bulbs running down the length of the hull and have only a very short piece of fibre in each porthole. That way the light travels to the outer-surface of the hull instead of backlit. All that means is you do not need fibres going straight to many seperate bulbs.
