Some things really bugged me about the show.
First, what I liked:
I'll slobber over any new footage. There was a lot of that. And that's it for the "liked" part.
What sucked:
The narrator. If there was a contest for lethargic delivery, he won. But then, see next issue.
The writing (If I was to to hear "nearly a hundred years ago..." again I was going to...do something nasty.
Stupid sound effects (example: zooming in on sections of the new mosaics. No matter how many stupid "computer sound effects" they add, it's still a TV.
The Discovery Channel promos that popped up at the bottom of the screen.
And, like everyone else already noted, the choice to disregards *numerous* collaborating eyewitness accounts while postulating their new theories. Besides, didn't they see the movie ; - ) ??
Especially the notion discounting the pitch of the stern. Also, their drop test of the bow was absolutely ludicrous. They could have at least given a more scale depth to see how the thing would stabilize over time. Was there any accounting for remaining trapped air versus flooded spaces affecting its attitude during the 2.5 mile fall? Basically, there was a lot missing from their tests.
Former theories regarding "brittle steel" were forwarded based upon the fatigue characteristics *at the low temperatures experienced at the time of the sinking*. It certainly isn't clear to me at all as to the actual conditions during their testing. Further, I don't think a few rivets or a few square feet of hull plate can be logically extrapolated to the bulk of the ship.
Thak goodness I taped it. At least I could FF through the commercials and fluff. That show could have been edited down to certainly no more than 90 minutes.
I did get a good chuckle out of how the described the recovery of the "Big Piece." Funny how they made absolutely no mention at all of the botched first attempt to raise it...the time they dropped it back to the bottom.
