The best chemical to use for stripping plastic is Wesley's Tire Bleach it won't attack the plastic.
Let the parts soak and keep checking them from time to time. Usally an hour or two, but sometimes overnight.
Call Revell/Monogram and explain to them what happened and that you where instructed by someone there to use Goof-off and they should send you replacement parts.
