Ah, you noticed! Clamps, clothes pins, and heavy rubber bands are useful tools when dealing with the kit. A full set of exact files and some emory boards help too.
I recommend you get some old glassware and keep them handy. You can then fire these up against the wall instead of the work in progress.
Just think about how great it'll look once you get all the fixes in. You'll appreciate the result more knowing the effort.
I had it easy building my model of the wreck. I used the hull, forward well deck and forecastle, and scratchbuilt every thing else. It's much easier that was ;-)
