Perhaps we should limit it to the types of wood used, metals, basic materials, etc. We can find what the wood were in the record, but how they were glazed makes a difference on how they looked. He may know if the ship had the mast lights for instance. Or what was the color of the lights, if any at night? Were the windows clear glazed or did the windows obscure certain views. What were the colors of the tiffany-glass type of windows. Things that would not have changed over the years. The floor tiles, etc. the chandeliers. Nuances that are subtle but will be remembered because he was there.
