I tested using fishing line but i didn't like it because it hadn't any of that twisted shape that cable is suppose have. So my next option was to use nylon thread that they use to make clothes (not ordinary sewing thread!!!) I used a grayish colour to represent black cable from far away and it looks very good. It also doesn't mind moisture coz its almost pure nylon.
