As Scott mensioned, the fairhead rollers assisted lateral movement of cargo loads over the decks. The ones in front were on pedistals, and would look like smaller mushroom vents on the foreward welldeck. Aft, they were low and squat between the hatches. I have drawings on my web guide, supplied by other members of this group.
