As others have said, it's a good model and he didn't have the benefit of what we have here. When I studied it at length in St. Paul, I found some 50 fixes or upgrades from my research or the work the guys here have done to improve it.
Bottom line, who here has done a 1/48th scale model anywhere near that good. If I applied all of the fixes I noted, only a few of you would notice.
What would really be fun is for a group of us to have a modeling party with Warren, and get the the whole thing up to where we would ideally like to have it. Since the workmanship is already first class, what's one knotch higher?
Then again, modeling really is a solitary thing. Maybe it's better to leave a good piece where lots of people see it every day and appreciate it as his victory.
