Doug and Steve,
Thank you for your kind words. We did indeed compile the tutorial as a labor of love. I personally have not heard anything about the tutorial other than what has been posted on the web board. On the whole it has been positive and constructive. I think I can speak for Mike in saying that we didn't write the tutorial for popularity or praise. We saw a need for a comprehensive guide, something to complement Roy Mengot's very informative tutorial, and did our best to fulfill that need - to build a highly detailed and accurate Titanic model. That was our intent, and from what we have heard from you all, we have met that goal.
I was updating a few of my pictures and graphics based on new information, but they inadvertantly were trashed before I had the chance to post them.
As for posting key pictures of Titanic, most of them are found in some of the newer books currently available. Some of the books with the better quality Titanic photos are "Titanic and Her Sisters", and "Titanic - An Illustrated History". I found these in the local bookstore for $20 and $6.99, respectively (I paid $62 for An Illustratd History back in 1992 when it first came out - ouch!)
Securing the rights to post pictures legally on a web site is a tedious process. However, the quality of the detail in the above books far exceeds the quality an internet posting could ever be. We have no 'secret stash' of unpublished Titanic photos. Everyone has access to what we had access to.
If you have any thoughts or suggestions, just let us know and we will do our best to help!
Thanks, and kind regards,
Dan Cherry
