Dear Bruce and Russ:
In a construction photo of Olympic taken from the well of the big anchor looking aft, I noticed a walkway suspended between the forecastle and the rest of the superstructure of the ship spanning across and over C-deck below. The picture shows A and B deck in steel construction. This picture is found in the 1910 launching issue of Engineering of the Olympic. In the picture there is a man walking onto the forecastle from this "bridge" on the port side. If this "bridge" was on the port side, then a regular set of stairs would have to be on the starboard, so the workers could get up and down. Of course the photograph could be reversed. I've noticed these "bridges" on the aft bridge deck. Also Engineering has its own photographs of the Olympic launching.
Sincerely,
James Pepper
