Also the lengths of the ship were published in this issue of Engineering, in the text of the article. The width is due to the extra skin, the length is from the extra watertight compartment. This publication is not one to not get it right, they publish patents and are very particular to detail. When I saw the 900ft figure, I thought that it looked rounded off, but this ship was to be better than the Titanic in every way. It looks longer in the tail of the ship, slimmer and longer than T and O. As I have indicated in the past on the Olympic Board, I was not able to make a scale model of the Olympic based on my Titanic models, because the watertight bulkheads were slightly different lengths than in Titanic, even though the total length was the same. The same is true for the Britannic. Rats!
