Uuuumm .. I don't think you guys would want me to fire off any kind of message to RMSTI or Mr. Tulloch! It could have opposite results of what you desire! 8>)
If any of you are members of Mark Taylor's Titanic Discussion Group, I do KNOW that Matt Tulloch (son of George) does lurk in that forum. I have accidentally brought him to the surface myself upon a few occasions. Unfortunately for the goals of this group they have NOT been friendly encounters. For those who do not know, I AM NOT A FAN OF RMSTI OR WHAT THEY REPRESENT and am quite outspoken about it. Matt Tulloch and I have had several very unpleasant encounters over the last few years on the discussion list.
If enough of you send emails, you may eventually get a response. Also, if anyone would like I will see if I still have Matt's private email address and maybe I could post it here or give it out privately. However, I am not sure if I still have it.
At any rate, I do not think I will try to contact them for obvious reasons.
Sincere regards,
Bill Walden

: : One area that I don't think has ever been explored in this area is the wreck itself. If they were able to retrieve painted funnel fragments, sophisticated color analysis could be done to determine the original colors. They do this with historical homes where original colors have been covered over by paint, wallpaper etc. I have seen them do this a few times on "This Old House" where Bob Villa was visiting the restoration of an historical home usually in New England. They are able to compensate for age, oxidation, staining, deterioration, or what have you. The level of scientific expertise is quite high. This kind of analysis would eliminate the "human factors".
: : Until then its hit and miss.

: Bob,
: I totally agree. I think one way of approaching this idea would be for ALL of us to fire off emails to George Tulock and RMS Titanic, Inc. Maybe he could clip a section or small piece off of the platforms where the funnels once were. He could just take the one of his underwater robots on his next trip to her and cut or tear off a small fragment for analysis. I'm sending an email to him today. I am going to start at his web site and trace from there. Hope we all can do something to get this area of concern approached as a group.
