Since we don't have any night photos of Titanic we may not know for sure. I think the Cherbourg representation of Titanic is a drawing not a photo. I don't know for sure but they may have
hauled down all flags at night. If they did, they
could have hoisted the lamp on the mainmast with the flag haliard. Educated guess only.
