I confess I just grab Evergreen stuff most of the time. It's cheap, consistent high quality, and workable. However, sometimes pulling sprue is quicker, and the raw material is right there, not at the hobby shop. Remember, you can also push sprue, that is you can fiddle with the soft blob and make it a variety of shapes. So I keep a votive candle handy, stuck to an old saucer. A heat gun it definite overkill.

Some folks just hate to buy when there is all that sprue lying around. They're the same ones who save plastic containers. Yeah, I'm guilty of that too.
