Hi again group,
Just in case anyone's forgotten about it, it's been 43 years today when the Italian Liner Andrea Doria sank just about 60 miles off the coast of Nantucket Island,
after being struck in the starboard side by the Swedish-American liner Stockholm on July 25, 1956, at
11:10 pm. It took the Andrea Doria 10 hours to sink taking a total of 51 lives to the bottom of the Atlantic. Most were killed upon impact. The liner Ill de France, the freighter Cape Ann, & the Coast Guard Cutter Evergreen came to the rescue within hours.
Try visiting Mario Grillo's site at http://www.andreadoria.org for a detailed history on these ships.

regards,
stevo
