Diorama water

Has anyone ever built a model of a ship at sea?

How do you model the break at the bow and wake at the stern?

Working on trying to figure out how to make a diorama (sp) of Titanic steaming into the 'berg and even though the water was described as a "flat calm" it looks like the ship is sitting in the middle of a lake of glass without a wake behind it.

Paper mache' is okay for the 'berg... but this water is going to kill me!

Ive seen it done before on WW2 naval battle dioramas but have no idea how they manage it.

Anyone have any ideas or know from experience how to model it?
