: Hello All!
: I am working on a Britannic conversion, but I have a general question that I need an answer to. I have painted the hull with numerous coats of Flat White and I have taped off the waterline. My question is this--everytime I have build a ship in this manner, paint ALWAYS seeps under the tape. Does anyone know of and better tape to use rather than 3M's Painter's Masking Tape?

One other thing you can do after applying the tape is to spray or brush flat white over the unmasked area adjacent to the tape. Then any color bleeding through the tape will be the same color as that below the tape. Before you remove the tape, you should run a very sharp x-acto blade or equivalent along the edge of the tape to ensure a clean separation of the tape from the final color you spray or brush onto the unmasked area, and no lifting of the new color or the flat white below it, in this instance, with the removal of the tape.
